Building on the success of the inaugural event (which was held in October 2025) in the Reading with Pleasure 2025 Book Talk Series, the SFU Library has organized the second presentation that will take place on 1 December 2025 (Monday). It is our great honor to have invited Professor Chan Sin-wai as the speaker. Professor Chan is the Professor-cum-Dean of Ip Ying To Lee Yu Yee School of Humanities and Languages at Saint Francis University.

An accomplished scholar and a pioneer in translation technology and humanities technology, Professor Chan has extensive experience in teaching courses in translation technology and computer-aided translation. Professor Chan’s research interests encompass translation technology, bilingual lexicography and Chinese-English translation. He has published more than 110 books and articles in these areas, spanning across academic and practical fields. Professor Chan’s scholarly works are widely regarded as authoritative references for both academics and general readers.

Professor Chan will share his profound insights into the evolving landscape of technology and humanities in the age of Artificial Intelligence (AI). Please join in.

Book Talk Series: Reading with Pleasure

With the objective of fostering a vibrant reading culture at Saint Francis University (SFU), the SFU Library has organized the Book Talk Series: “Reading with Pleasure”.

Book authors, some of whom are members of staff of our University, will be invited to share their inspiring and captivating journeys in writing. This programme will provide an invaluable opportunity for authors and audiences to interact and connect. Participants would very likely be able to discover the person behind the pages and perceive truth beyond words.

For our inaugural event, the Library is honored to have Professor Albert Lee serve as the speaker. Professor Lee, a Research Professor at SFU, is noted for his exceptional achievements in the health, education, social, and legal sectors. He has an extensive portfolio of publications which include academic papers, books, articles, and textbooks on family medicine and health promotion.

Professor Lee’s research focuses on health promotion and disease prevention, with a particular emphasis on cementing connections between schools and communities and enhancing the delivery of primary healthcare—which are key to improving the overall health of children and adolescents.
