The Library is pleased to offer the following newly subscribed e-databases:

EBSCOhost eBook Academic Collection
The eBook Academic Collection provides complete access to over 200,000 titles in multi-disciplinary subject topics, including Business Management, Corporate Governance, Computer Sciences, Education, Psychology, Translation, Music, Film Production, Design, Medicine, Health Sciences and Social Sciences.

端傳媒 Initium Media
Initium Media is an online media platform that provides in-depth Chinese-language news content and data covering the Greater China and the globe.

Students and staff are welcome to access the above databases via the A-Z List e-Databases.

As the new school year will soon begin, the Library has organized a series of orientation sessions for you to learn more about our services, resources and facilities. You will be able to acquire information literacy skills that are essential for locating course materials and relevant resources and you will be better prepared for your classes and future assignments. The sessions will cover the following topics:

  • Borrowing books and returning loaned items
  • Accessing “My Library Record”
  • Identifying learning materials via the Discovery Search Platform
  • Searching for e-resources from off campus
  • Using library facilities and printing services

The Belt and Road (CSMAR Solution)

The Library is pleased to offer a newly subscribed e-resource – The Belt and Road Database (CSMAR Solution).

As part of the CSMAR Solution, The Belt and Road Database collects the macro data about the social and economic development of the countries along the Belt and Road, and some characteristic data, including international cooperation degree, international competitiveness, Renminbi internationalization, AIIB, security information and cultural exchanges, etc.

To access this resource, please follow the steps below:

  • Visit our A-Z List e-databases and select “CSMAR Solution國泰安數據服務中心”
  • Click “Get Data” / “數據中心” at the top header of the page
  • Select “Monographic Study Series” / “專題研究系列” from the Series Menu on the left
  • Select “The Belt and Road” / “一帶一路”

    New Library System and Revamped Loans Services

    We are pleased to inform you that a new Library System will be launched on 29 June 2022 (Wednesday) and that the loans services will be fine-tuned.

    About “My Library Record”
    Some personal loan information is not retrievable when the new system comes into operation. Such information includes:

    1. your loan history displayed in “My Library Record”;
    2. your search records saved in “My Favorites” on the Discovery Search Platform; and
    3. your “hold requests”.

    [You are reminded to save and print such records before 26 June 2022 (Sunday) if you need them for future reference and to make hold requests via the new Library System when it is in place.]

    Suspension of Online Loans Services
    The online renewal and reservation services will be suspended on 27 and 28 June 2022 (Monday and Tuesday). Please approach the Circulation Counter for such services on these two days.

    New Loan Rules
    New loan rules in connection with the loan quota, loan period and renewal limits will be enforced. You may check the specific details HERE.

    The library system upgrade may cause some inconvenience to you at the initial stage, but we will try to minimize the disruptions.     PressReader delivers access to over 7,000 magazines and newspapers from more than 100 countries worldwide in full-colour, full page format. You can browse the current issues of your favourite publication on your computer, tablet and phones, and even download them to your devices for offline reading.

    Ebook Central Academic Complete (Upgraded from Ebook Central Social Sciences Collection)
    Academic Complete ebook collection provides comprehensive access to over 200,000 titles in multi-disciplinary subject topics, including Business Management, Computer Sciences, Humanities and Languages, Medicine and Nursing, Social Sciences as well as Psychology.

    Library Online Talk: Evidence-based Practice, Seven steps to the perfect PICO Search

    The Library is pleased to organise an online talk: “Evidence-based Practice, Seven Steps to the Perfect PICO Search” with EBSCO, a well-known e-resources provider, to introduce the use of Health Science e-databases and the PICO process that help you develop literature search strategies on topics related to evidence-based practice in the field of Health Sciences.

    The talk will cover:

    • Information on EBSCO e-databases in Health Sciences
    • Step-by-step guide on the PICO process
      • Formulate the PICO question
      • Identify keywords for each PICO element
      • Plan your search strategy
      • Execute the search
      • Review the literature
      • Determine the level of evidence

    Due to the raging pandemic, the Library opening hours will be revised starting from 1 March 2022 until further notice. Details are as follows:
