Starting from February 2019, all English and Chinese materials previously classified under the Dewey Decimal Classification (DDC) Scheme and Lai’s Classification Scheme have been reclassified under the Library of Congress (LC) Classification Scheme by stages. To support this transition, the Library has established a General Collection to house materials arranged according to the LC Classification Scheme. The project is anticipated to be completed within a few years.

The Library has successfully completed the reclassification of all materials in the Course Reserves Collection. Furthermore, over 5,000 items have been reclassified under the Library of Congress (LC) Classification system and integrated into the General Collection. In the coming months, the Library will prioritize the reclassification of all course-related titles into the LC Scheme.
As part of the Books Reclassification Project, the library has introduced RFID technology to better track the location of materials and enhance the user experience. All materials have been tagged with RFID, and the new RFID system with borrowing and returning services has been launched in September 2026.
