“2025 PressReader: Your Global News at Your Fingertips” Activity

The “2025 PressReader: Your Global News at Your Fingertips” activity organized by PressReader is running from now until 31 October 2025. PressReader is a database that delivers access to more than 7,000 newspapers and magazines from over 120 countries across the globe.

Simply by completing the three tasks below on or before 31 October 2025, you will automatically enter the lucky draw and have a chance to win fabulous prizes. Winner will be notified via institutional email if he/she is from the SFU community.

Task 1:
Recommend a book that you believe helps readers stay informed about global news and trends

Task 2:
Create a personalized PressReader account and upload a screenshot of your successful registration

Task 3:
Fill out and submit the event form with complete information

Prizes
1st prize: Apple Store Gift Card HK$2,000
2nd prize: Trip.com e-Gift Card HK$100

To support research in all disciplines, the Library has added the following new e-database to its collection:

Scite is a platform for discovering and evaluating research articles through Smart Citations, which display the context of citations and analyze whether the articles provide supporting or contrasting evidence.

Students and staff are welcome to access this resource via A-Z List of e-Databases.

Library Orientation 2025-2026


To help new students prepare for classes and achieve success in their studies, the Library holds a series of orientation sessions from 14 August to 15 September 2025.

Each session will last for 30 minutes and will cover the following key issues:

  • Library opening hours
  • Loan rules
  • Search and access resources
  • Borrow laptops, and print / photocopy documents
  • Reserve group discussion rooms

By completing 3 simple steps in the session, participants will be able to enter the Lucky Draw and have a chance to win cash coupons!

The Library will be closed on HKSAR Establishment Day (1 July 2025, Tuesday).


New e-resource available - Bookboon

To support self-learning in multiple disciplines, the Library has added the following new e-database to its collection:

Bookboon.

This database provides more than 3,500 downloadable eBooks and audio learning resources covering multiple subject areas including AI, Communication Skills, Economics and Finance, Personal Development, and more. Online courses about different themes are also provided.
