Loeb Classical Library

The Library is pleased to offer a newly subscribed e-resource – Loeb Classical Library.

Founded by James Loeb in 1911, the Loeb Classical Library is a digitized book series that contain over 500 volumes of Greek and Latin literature, including epic and lyric poetry, tragedy and comedy, history, travel, philosophy, oratory and more. The works are presented in original text along with modern English translations, making it more accessible to the broadest possible audience who are interested in ancient Greek and Latin literary heritage.

Students and staff are welcome to access this resource via A-Z List e-Databases.

Special Arrangements for the Return of Loaned Items

As all face-to-face classes have been suspended as a result of the latest development of COVID-19, all loaned items with due dates that fall on 7 December 2020 and after will be extended to 22 January 2021 (excluding reserve collection items).

Remarks:

  • You may renew the loaned item(s) via My Library Record upon the due date. For your information, item(s) cannot be renewed if there are hold requests or the maximum renewal limit has been reached.
  • The book drops placed at the entrances to the Library and the Learning Commons can be used for returning the loaned items (not applicable to multi-media items) during non-library opening hours.
  • To access the online resources from off-campus, you can view the e-textbooks here. You can also use the Discovery platform to search for other e-books and e-journals for reading, and browse the A-Z list e-databases for research.

APA PsycTherapy

The Library is pleased to offer a newly subscribed e-resource – APA PsycTherapy.

APA’s PsycTHERAPY is a collection of over 500 streaming demonstration videos in psychotherapy. It features expert psychotherapists demonstrating various treatment approaches and provides methods showcasing common obstacles faced during therapy sessions.

In the light of recent improvements of the situation of COVID-19, the opening hours of the Library will be revised as follows with effect from 2 November 2020:

Health protection measures:

  • Users must wear a surgical mask within the Library at all times.
  • Users are advised to clean their hands with alcohol-based handrubs placed at the entrances to the CBCC Library and the CIHE Learning Commons.
  • Seating has been reduced at study areas and plastic partitions have been installed to separate computer workstations.
  • Group discussion rooms will remain closed. No booking services will be offered.

Road to IELTS - Take your English to the Next Level

The Library is pleased to announce that an online talk titled “Road to IELTS – Take your English to the Next Level” will be held jointly with Clarity English on 12-October-2020 (Monday)

 The talk will highlight the IETLS examination and introduce you to “Road to IELTS”, a library subscribed e-resource that helps you prepare for the English test. It will also introduce a suite of online courses for English learners to sharpen their skills in specific language areas, including grammar, essay / report writing, reading etc.

Topics to be covered:

  • Introduction to IELTS and use of ‘Road to IELTS’ for self-learning and practice
  • Highlight of “Practical Writing’ and ‘Tense Buster’
  • Set up individual account for checking your learning progress
  • Q&A session
